About Barbara (Blaze) Lazarony, MA
Neurodivergent Therapist in California and a Coach Worldwide
Greetings,
I am Barbara (Blaze) Lazarony, MA, a force that embodies resilience and wisdom. Blaze isn’t just a moniker; it’s an emblem of my light and bright spirit that has guided me through life’s turbulent currents.
My path to finding my calling in counseling and therapy was not a straight line. It was a winding trail with personal struggles, health battles, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Each challenge I faced didn’t just shape me; it ignited a spark within me to guide others through their life journeys as a neurodivergent therapist and coach.
Early Career
In the early stages of my career, I thrived in various roles. I worked in the fast-paced world of retail, where I led and mentored junior and senior executives and managed $2.5 billion in sales in 42 retail locations across the United States. The young girl born on a rural Ohio farm thought she had finally made it to the big leagues in life! From the outside, everything looked perfect. But, I was so wrapped up in “being my job title ” that I could easily ignore the whispers that my health was suffering. Yeah, I was a business strategy junkie-I. I liked profit and loss statements, merchandise, and building wildly successful teams. Work/life balance? That didn’t exist.
Life threw me a curveball when I became a patient myself. My health struggles were not setbacks but catalysts that spurred me to understand the intricate link between the mind, body, and spirit. I have survived and thrived through cancer, not once, not twice, but three times. My doctors call me the poster child for autoimmune diseases, yet I persist through it all.
My first cancer journey also yielded me a mental health diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, and depression; all of that rolled into a Complex Trauma diagnosis. I didn’t discover until almost twenty years later that two of those diagnoses’ actually earned me a seat on a neurodiversity bus. I also would call myself a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). I am transparent about all of my diagnoses’ because I want to normalize mental health with my clients.
My journey to recovery unveiled a passion for continuous learning, a trait that now defines my approach to therapy. I realized that every individual and couple is a unique and mysterious puzzle. I committed myself to unraveling these colorful mysteries of humanity, one piece at a time—coming from a place of warmth, empathy, and curiosity.
On the right below is my Blaze A Brilliant Path logo, the masthead name of my entire business, and a personal reminder to be a beacon of light and positive energy. In addition to Blaze A Brilliant Path, I also am the CEO and founder of this division, Love on the Autism Spectrum, and Neurodiverse Executive Coaching too.
My Calling as a Neurodivergent Therapist
I discovered my true calling in working with people who are neurodiverse, including couples and individuals. As a neurodivergent therapist and coach, I understood that love is limitless, and neurodiversity is another aspect of this profound emotion. I empower couples to celebrate their differences to perceive them not as obstructions but as bridges leading to deeper understanding and connection.
Today, I stand tall, not merely as a master of counseling and therapy, but as a living testament to transforming struggles into purpose. I am proof of the power of resilience, the strength in vulnerability, and the beauty in being uniquely you.
I know this sounds a bit cheesy, mainly because I’ve always been a fan of the symbolism of the Statue of Library shining her torch over New York Harbor, but I am not just a therapist and coach; I am a beacon, guiding others through their darkest nights towards the dawn of a new understanding.
My story is a testament to the power of turning adversity into purpose, and I bring this spirit to my work every day. And if I’m not working with clients, you’ll find me enjoying living by the water in California and Ohio, spending time with my husband of thirty-five years, or banging on my computer. (My OCD self loves building a good spreadsheet or a website.)
So, yes, my name, ‘Blaze,’ is no accident – it symbolizes my bright and compassionate spirit, determination to turn trials into triumphs, and commitment to lighting the way for others.
I am Blaze, the embodiment of resilience, relentless learning, and the ability to transform trials into triumphs.
Will you allow me to help you as your neurodivergent therapist and coach?
My Approach to Therapy & Coaching
As an experienced neurodivergent therapist, I use many evidence-based approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Brainspotting and Writing-to-Heal in our counseling and coaching sessions.
These methodologies have been extensively researched and proven effective in building healthy relationships, improving communication, resolving conflicts, and promoting personal growth. I hope to empower you to make lasting changes in your life and relationships.
I also incorporate other techniques and approaches in order to tailor each session to the specific needs of each client. I believe in a client-centered and holistic approach that addresses individual and relational issues; because I believe that they are interconnected.
My intention as a neurodivergent therapist and coach is to empower my clients with practical tools and strategies they can apply daily to create positive and lasting changes. I strive to create a safe and comfortable environment for all of my clients to explore their feelings, interests, needs and values.
It’s important to find a neurodivergent therapist that’s a good fit.
As a neurodivergent Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Monterey, I serve couples of all backgrounds looking to improve their relationship and strengthen their connection. My ideal clients are committed to making their relationship work, even though their neurodiversity is currently creating challenges in their lives and relationships.
Typically, one or both members of the couples I work with are neurodiverse, having Autism, ADHD, or even Complex Trauma. They may already be diagnosed, or I also offer ASD and ADHD diagnosis and therapy. I also cater to neurotypical “allistic” partners who have Cassandra Syndrome.
I also offer therapy and coaching services to individuals seeking support for themselves, whether single or in a relationship, including all sexual orientations.
I strongly believe all individuals deserve fulfilling lives and relationships!
I empower you to live authentically and thrive in your relationships!
I strive to help my clients overcome challenges, find meaning and purpose, and build fulfilling connections with others.
I am dedicated to positively impacting my clients’ well-being. I believe that everyone can create positive changes in their lives, and I am here to support you every step of the way. I am not just a neurodivergent therapist and coach. I am an advocate for mental health, inclusivity, and neurodiversity.
